The Benefits of Ductless Heating

Whenever you think of a home heating system, you probably think of a furnace. That would make sense, as furnaces are by far the most popular heating system in the country. However, they are far from the only option available for home heating. If you’re in the heating market this winter, you should take a look at the advantages of installing a ductless heating system in your home. Read on for more information about ductless heating.

What is a Ductless Heater?

A ductless heating system is actually constructed more similarly to an air conditioner than a traditional heater. A series of individual air handlers are installed throughout the house, one in each room that is to receive heat. Each of these air handlers has its own thermostat, which allows it to be controlled separately from the others. Up to four air handlers are connected to a single outside unit. When in heating mode, the outside unit evaporates refrigerant to absorb thermal energy before sending it inside to the air handlers. The air handlers then condense the refrigerant back into liquid to release the heat into the home. Ductless heating systems can also reverse the flow of refrigerant through their systems, which enables them to provide cooling as well as heating modes.

The Advantages of Ductless Heating

The ability to act as both a heater and air conditioner alone is a huge advantage over other climate control systems, but it isn’t all that ductless heating systems have to offer. Ductless heaters allow a much finer degree of control over the climate throughout the house, thanks to the individual thermostats that control each air handler. A ductless heater is an energy efficient way to increase your comfort, which is why it’s gaining more and more popularity.
